House

The house is a typical detached Charentaise long house, laid out so that all rooms have windows that face south, for maximum light. It was built in the late 19th Century from the local stone as a single storey building with a hay loft above, but the roof was raised around twenty years ago so now the upper floor has full height ceilings and beams.

View of the front of the house

In the heat of summer, the thick stone walls keep the inside cool, whereas in colder months a log fire makes sure the rooms are warm.

This is a view of the front of the house, with the door to the kitchen / dining room on the right and the French windows to the living room to the left.

There is space to park two or more cars on the drive running along the front and to the side of the house.
